No more confusion over GST: Mobile app is here

There has been a lot of confusion over the rates of GST applicable to products or services. Above that, the WhatsApp forwards are further adding to the confusion.  To clear the position on GST rates, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched a mobile application called “GST Rates Finder” to assist  the citizens who have purchased any product or have availed any service to cross verify the correctness of the of GST rate charged.

This mobile application will help users to find rates of GST for a variety of goods and services. It may be downloaded on any Smartphone running android and will operate in off-line mode, once downloaded. The app contains GST rates which are divided chapter and title wise which a user can easily search for rate applicable to a service or product using the index in the app.

The application that is now on android platform will soon be on iOS platform also. The search results will list all the products and services containing the name that was typed in the search box. The user may scroll down the listing of description and if any specific item on the list is clicked, the screen window will pop-up, containing details like GST rate, description of products or services and the chapter heading of the category. The Central Board of Excise and Customs has also supplied GST rate finder on its website “www.gst.gov.in” to help the taxpayers understand the GST rate for products and services.

All these initiatives are aimed to bring almost clarity on GST and to make the citizens aware about it in most convenient form of mobile app and internet.
